Custom-Made Dentures

Today’s custom-made dentures are so well crafted that they not only look lifelike; they also fit snugly. At Mint Dental in Bradenton, Dr. Munoz proudly offers custom-made dentures so you can talk, laugh, eat, and smile with confidence.

If you are a denture wearer who is uncomfortable with a denture that does not fit well, function fully, or appear natural, Dr. Munoz would like to help you achieve the comfort, function and beautiful looks you both desire and deserve.

Dr. Munoz is focused on highest quality for every patient. Quality does matter when it comes to getting a well fitting denture. She will spend time making sure your denture is all she and you expect it to be. In addition to traditional removable dentures, she has the ability to place one or more dental implants to retain your custom denture in place so it is stable, enables strong biting and chewing, and never slips out of place. You will be able to clean an implant retained denture just like you would natural teeth. Even in the case of a full overdenture, it can be retained on as few as 4 small implants.

Because quality matters when it comes to getting a well fitting denture, and because Dr. Munoz wants you to be highly satisfied with your dentistry, she will spend time making sure your denture is all you expect it to be. Although traditional removable dentures can fit comfortably around your gums, Dr. Munoz offers dentures retained on dental implants for even greater stability.

Traditional Dentures

Traditional full dentures replace an entire upper or lower dental arch. Dr. Munoz may recommend this type of restoration if you are missing all of your teeth or if you have widespread dental damage. Because she gently extracts teeth herself, it is unlikely you would need to see an oral surgeon for tooth removal. A full denture has a gum-colored plastic base that will fit around your gum ridge. If you decide to not have your denture retained on dental implants, denture adhesive will provide additional stability. As you will read below under “Implant-Retained Dentures,” removable dentures are not the optimal choice for most patients.

Traditional partial dentures fit around your gums and are removable. Like full dentures, they also have a plastic base that matches the natural shade of your gum tissue. They may also have a metal base or framework for strength and durability. Patients have the option of retaining partial dentures on a dental implant or using denture adhesive and small clasps to secure them to nearby teeth. When carefully crafted, the clasps are virtually undetectable.

Implant-Retained Dentures

Implant-retained dentures offer the ultimate in stability and aesthetics. If you choose this type of restoration, Dr. Munoz will carefully examine your jawbone to determine the best locations for placing implant screws. She will then place two or more implants to hold a full over denture or typically a single implant to hold a partial denture. After a period of healing during which bone heals around the implant(s), attachments are placed on the implants, which will firmly anchor the custom denture in place. Sometimes an existing full or partial denture can be converted for retention on dental implants if they are in good condition and have an ideal fit.

The Benefits of Implant-Retained Dentures

Here are reasons why implant-retained dentures are considered the gold standard of care today.

  • You will never have to worry about dental implants slipping out of place.
  • You will be able to eat all the foods you love and reap the benefits of better nutrition.
  • The dental implant will halt bone degeneration and help preserve the bone structure of your face. You will not need denture adjustments due to a changing jawbone.
  • An implant-retained denture is more likely to last the rest of your life and not require replacement when compared with removable prosthetics.
  • Because of the stability, strength and natural appearance of implant-retained dentures, you will be able to smile, laugh and talk naturally with confidence.
